DATE: Thursday, November 11, 2010
TIME: 7pm – 9pm
LOCATION: Cosi
117 Kentlands Blvd., Gaithersburg, MD

When raising a child with a disability, support groups can be a lifeline. While friends and family may provide much needed back-up in many areas, only other parents of children with disabilities can offer emotional understanding. Although our children my have different needs, the same emotional struggle is shared. Interacting with others with similar issues and challenges can offset the feeling that you are the only one in your situation.

Join us for an evening of s’mores and meeting new friends! Come connect with other parents who can offer support and emotional understanding.

FAMILY FUN DAY – Homestead Farm

Saturday, May 8, 2010
1:00pm – 3:00pm
15604 Sugarland Road
Poolesville, MD
www.homestead-farm.net

One of the greatest challenges for many families raising children with disabilities is taking their child to public places. It often takes a lot of time and practice for our children to get acclimated to new places. Sometimes this causes our children to make a big fuss and sometimes people make insensitive comments and make us feel bad about our heroic attempts at normalcy. With this in mind, Homestead Farms wants to let our children have an afternoon of fun and let the parents enjoy watching their children have fun without fear of judgment. The kids will decorate a pot, plant a seed, enjoy a hayride and visit with the farm animals.

Your entire family is welcome! There will be plenty of volunteers to ensure that all children can participate on the hayride.

While friends and family may provide much needed back-up in many areas, only other parents of children with special needs can offer emotional understanding. Although our children my have different needs, the same emotional struggle is shared. Come connect with other parents who can offer understanding. Emotional support can make it easier to experience the joy that comes from parenting a child with special needs.
